entry #8
“Does Asian American mean to be an Anglicized Asian? To deny one’s Asianess for the sake of “fitting in.” Does it mean to ignore being a minority to try to fit in with the majority? Or does Asian American require the traits of the “Motherland?” Does it mean to be a “model minority” only to be used by the majority and be separated from the other minority? Maybe to be Asian American is both. It is perhaps the journey, the process of accepting and denying Asianess. Just maybe Asian American is defined by the impossible act of dissecting one’s blood and culture.”
